Black Tie Muay Thai II - Saturday 21st of November 2015

On 21st November, Phuket Has Been Good To Us with the support of Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort hosted Black Tie Muay Thai II. It was a night filled with excellent food, great company and exciting fights. The first fight of the night was Jay ‘Leshark’ Walker from RPM VS Leo ‘The Lion’ Ferrari from PHBGTU. It was a tense fight with Jay making an excellent opponent; however in the end Leo ‘The Lion’ Ferrari came out on top! The amazing Kim ‘Blue Elephant’ Steppe from Blue Elephant and Jason ‘Paperboy’ Beavan of Class Act Media both put up an excellent fight which ended in a draw. The champions gave their all to their fights and provided plenty of entertainment for everyone.

The night raised over 900,000 THB, meaning Phuket Has Been Good To Us can employ two English teachers for a year!

A Night at the Opera - Friday 11th of September 2015

A Night at the Opera hosted at Trisara was another huge fundraising success for the Foundation. This was the second year that we have run the event and everyone seemed to enjoy the wonderful performance from FIVERA even more than they did last year. We were also lucky enough this year to be joined by Alex Grieg, an amazing violinist, who helped to make the night extra special.

The guests enjoyed some spectacular food thanks to the chefs at Trisara who always deliver an excellent menu.

The Longest Drive - March 2015

Mark Cameron and Graham Haslam, representing Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation, attempted to make history in March 2015 by making a New Guinness World Record by driving an electric Golf Cart from Pattaya, Thailand to Phuket, Thailand over 24 days. During the 24 days trip, the duo took in 8 championship golf courses including Burapha GC, Laem Chabang GC, Santiburi Samui and a final round at Laguna Phuket.

The Longest Drive was completed, against all odds, exactly on time at the Hard Rock Café on the 8th April raising 1,400,000THB. The intrepid duo completed the 1339kms with a bang with a great party and even more funds raised at the silent auction table during the event at Hard Rock Café Patong.

Mark and Graham had to say a heartfelt goodbye to "Herbie", their faithful companion – and let’s face it the most reliable component of the entire trip – as he was sold to the highest bidder, Phil Bond and is now a happy resident of Trang Province, enjoying life and doing more relaxed 20 km per week!! We love "Herbie"!

The 3 of them were featured for 5 weeks on Golf Chanel Thailand’s Golf Central Weekly program, footage is on the Foundation’s YouTube page and also the Destination TV website if you would like to watch how the boys managed the feat as well as how they got on, on the various championship golf courses they played.

This bizarre and unique fundraiser was a great success, raising not only a good amount of much-needed funds to help change the lives of children – but also the awareness of the foundation and the great work our teachers do.

The Foundation is still in continual contact with the fine people at Guinness answering questions and providing further evidence of the world record attempt, we expect to hear back in the very near future about the result.

Thank you to all of our great sponsors!
