December, 2012: Kamala's Biggest Tropical Party
Phuket has been good to Jody White and Lindsay Cameron, so they wanted to give more back to their community. They found the perfect way of doing so: they organised a fundraiser for us! The event took place on the 7th of December at the Kamala Beer Garden.

Local businesses got behind them to show support and donated more than 30 raffle prizes. The result was an amazing party in which community solidarity came first (and fun a close second!). Thank you so much ladies!!

Another special thank you goes to the Kamala Beer Garden for accepting to host the event and to The Tropical Garden for providing the food!

August, 2012: Revealed – Phuket’s Most Smartest are Girls!

In a gripping, down the wire result, Phuket locals discovered that girls really are smarter than boys on Monday night at the launch of the inaugural “Phuket’s Most Smartest” charity pub quiz.  Hosted by the Aussie Pub, Kamala, the event raised over 25,000 Baht for local charity Phuket Has Been Good To Us.
The winning team, “Quiz on your face” made up entirely of local Kamala women, skipped out to an early lead and held off all challenges, eventually winning by only one point. They are set to defend their title at the next quiz night, Monday August 27th.
Prizes, including a diving voucher, bar tabs, meals and beauty treatments were all generously donated by local businesses.
Event Manager, Angela McNoe, was very happy with the night.‘There was a great turnout and everyone was extremely generous. We raised a lot of money for the local children, and it can only get bigger and better from here.’

‘Phuket’s Most Smartest Charity Quiz Nights are held on the last Monday of every month, at the Aussie Pub, Kamala. Mark your diary to see if you can be next month’s winner. To find out more about coming along and getting involved visit the Pub Quiz event page.

June, 2012: Over 43.000 Thai baht raised with the Chuggi Swear Box

A few years ago, because of Michael Chugg’s colourful language, the Chuggi Swear Box was introduced at Music Matters – an international music conference.  Each time a speaker turns the air blue they must put money in the box.  This year, in Singapore, the money from the Chuggi Swear Box was donated to Phuket Has Been Good To Us.  Over 43,000 baht was raised - thank you for choosing us and not being on your best behavior!  And a special thanks goes to Neil Warnock & Jasper Donat.

Michael Chugg is a Founding Board Member and constant supporter of Phuket Has Been Good To Us.

February 2012: The Rachaprachanukroh School received “A Dream School” status

On Thursday Feb. 9th 2012 the Rachaprachanukroh 36 School was informed that it had gained “A Dream School” status. This was as the result of a vigorous inspection by 13 inspectors from the government’s “Office of the Basic Education Commission” in Bangkok. English was graded as “Very Highly Commended”. It was deemed to be the second best academic subject in the school, following that of Science.

The students were praised for their clear annunciation of words. In particular the inspectors were impressed that the students could make conversation, talk with them about various topics and to answer the inspector’s questions. The students skills went far beyond the mere repetition of ‘learned phrases’, as is in most inspections. Thanks to all who have helped to make this a success!

January 2012: Birthday party at Bliss Beach Club

In January we celebrated the birthdays of more than 10 children at the recently opened Bliss Beach Club. The kids had a great time! There was a huge and yummy birthday cake and all the kids received a rucksack full of gifts. But there was more; a dip in the pool, games and Chef Alex showed the children how to make a special pizza. Off course the children got a piece of pizza to taste!

Many thanks to everybody who helped to make this a memorable day for the kids. A special thanks to Pepe who donated food, drinks and the birthday cake. And to Bliss Beach Club and all their staff for having us, you guys did a great job!
