November, 2011: Phuket News – Another winner in the Phuket News Art competition!!!
In November Jareun, 11, was chosen as one of the 4 winners in the November edition of the Phuket News Art competition. He made a beautiful and very colourful painting. Since the competition started in July, already 8 Coconut Club students have been monthly winners. The grand winner will be announced next month.
November, 2011: Phuket News – Coconut Club students attend art class at PIA
7 lucky Coconut Club students were invited to visit Phuket International Academy (PIA) for a special art class on November 12. PIA art teacher Jo Moon taught the students about drawing and using water colour and oil pastels to create abstract visual art. The seven masterpieces that were created will be on sale at the Think Design Art Exhibition at Royal Phuket Marina from December 27-30.
October, 2011: Phuket News – Coconut Club Students Win Again!
Coconut Club has again delivered 3 future artists in the making. Pim, Asee and Ploy have been announced as winners in the fourth Phuket News Art competition. All three made a beautiful and colourful piece of art, and are therefore well-deserved winners!
October, 2011: Phuket News – Spin Art Exhibition at Brush Restaurant
Brush Restaurant & Lounge in Kalim Bay hosted a Spin Art Exhibition on the 8th of October. Australian designer and sculptor John Underwood had invited artists and others to make a form of kinetic art at his studio, by dripping paint on to circular wooden “canvases” that were spinning at the time. All the paintings were hanging in Brush restaurant on the evening of the 8th and were for sale to raise funds for the Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation. September, 2011: Phuket News and Phuket Gazette - Dylan Young to race JK Racing Series
On 23-25 September Dylan Young, a Phuket resident, took part in the JK Asia Racing Series in Singapore as an Ambassador of Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation. August 2011: Phuket News - Coconut Club Students Win Art Competition
The Phuket News Art Competition has in the second month running another Coconut Club winner. Well, actually we had 3 winners in August. Dang and Nop won with their art piece of an angry dragon and Pim with his street art of a beautiful interesting looking phee (ghost). Well done to all, and fingers crossed one of these talented young artists might win a major prize which will be announced at the end of the year.
July, 2011: Phuket News – Coconut Club Students Win Art competition
King, Bo and Guitar participated in the Phuket News first art competition. The beautiful drawing from King was selected as one of this month’s winners. Well done, King! All monthly winners are entered into a competition for a major prize which will be announced later this year. Keep your fingers crossed for King!

A couple of our students have been participating in the annual dance show for Kathy Roche Dance Studio. They performed a high energy hip hop dance.

June, 2011: Phuket Gazette – Pro Am chips in for local charity
More than 20 professionals and 70 amateurs competed at the Phuket Property Dot Com Pro Am Invitational golf tournament held at Laguna Phuket Golf Club on the 17th of June. Pro’s came from around the world, not just to enjoy the sport but to give a little back as well. The turnout was fantastic. At the gala dinner at B-Lay Tong Resort the organizers announced that over 1 million baht was raised to support the Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation. A huge thank you to all the generous sponsors who helped to make this event a huge success, see also the ‘thank you advert’ in the Phuket Gazette.
June, 2011: Phuket Gazette - Island Technology’s 10th Anniversary
Congratulations to Island Technology who celebrated their 10th anniversary on Saturday the 4th of June. A great party with modern opera, dance and a spectacular sound and light show. Managing Director Khun Gay Autcharawan Pratumwan and her team kindly asked their guests not to bring any gifts but to donate to Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation instead. She presented Tina Hall, Director of Operations of the Foundation, a check of 30,000 baht. A big thank you to everybody at Island Technology and their generous guests!
May, 2011: Phuket Gazette - Into the Big Blue
In May, an advert appeared in the Phuket Gazette thanking all of our amazing donors without whom Into the Big Blue, at the Sheraton Grande Laguna, would not have been possible. Thank you to everyone who helped to make the night such a huge success.
May, 2011: Think Design Magazine - Casey McNamara
In May Think Design interviewed Casey McNamara, son of Tom McNamara, the founder of Phuket Has Been Good To Us. The three page article talks about the history of the Foundation and the work that we're doing with children in Phuket. Casey also talks about Into the Big Blue, the major fundraising event of the year which was held on 7th May at the Sheraton Grande Laguna. Not only is the article interesting reading about the present and future of the Foundation, but there are some great pictures too.

In May Phuket Gazette wrote an article about Into the Big Blue and The Phuket News printed photos of some of the guests enjoying the festivities. The event, the annual fundraiser for Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation, is the biggest event of the year. It was held in the Andaman Ballroom of the Sheraton Grande Laguna in May.
