December 2013: The Phuket News - Santa Visits Kamala

Peter Crisp, the owner of the Aussie Pub in Kamala, and 20 local Harley Davidson enthusiasts roared their engines and brought Christmas presents to the residential children of Phuket Has Been Good To Us on December 21. 

Presents were donated by many members of the community, including Torsten Lechler, Simon Burton Clay, Thai from Nanork Seafood, Meow from Meow Bar & Restaurant, and staff and friends of the Aussie Pub.

December 2013: The Phuket News - Masquerade Party

On February 8, the Pullman Phuket Arcadia on Naithon Beach will be the setting for a Masquerade Party - a fun evening of entertainment, music and dancing. Guest will enjoy a five-course Venetian-style banquet, cocktails and free flow beverages with dozens of prizes up for grabs at the auction and raffle. 

“I can’t wait to see the magnificent masks people will be wearing,” said organiser Tina Hall, director of operations for the Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation.

November 2013: The Phuket News - Charity expands education programme to third school

On November 1, local charity Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation expands into a third school, The Kamala Small Children Development Centre. 

There are 250 children enrolled in the Kamala Small Children Development Centre between the ages of 3 and 6. This collaboration between the Foundation and the Centre means that Phuket Has Been Good To Us now teaches to over 1.000 Thai children in both the Kamala and Kalim areas.

November 2013: Property Report

Phuket's Desirable Neighbourhood Luxury property magazine, Property Report, featured PHBGTU in an article about what makes Kamala Phuket’s most desirable place to live.

“Thai-registered charity Phuket Has Been Good To Us was established in the wake of the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami that destroyed two schools in Kamala and Kalim. The Foundation aims to improve the life chances of Thai youth by providing a high quality, practical English language education to over 900 underprivileged children, ages 4 to 18.”


October 2013: The Phuket News - Doing it for the kids

The Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation held its Kamala monthly Aussie Pub Quiz on Monday Night (September 30). B5,000 was raised for the charity.  

 

October 2013: Phuket Tatler - Giving as good as you get

"Many locals and incomers have done well out of Phuket and some of them want to return the favour. Alastair Carthew looks at the island's charity sector."

September, 2013: Phuket News - Red Hot Jazz 

On Friday, September 13, Boathouse on Kata Beach hosted our fundraising event Red Hot Jazz. A sophisticated evening of jazz and art while enjoying cocktails, free flow wine, four courses of French cuisine and dancing.

August, 2013: Phuket News - Pub Quiz

The Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation held its monthly quiz night fundraiser at the Aussie Pub in Kamala on Monday, July 29. Fourteen teams competed in the epic battle of wits to find out who would be named 'Phuket's Most Smartest'. The Bawdy Boozers claimed this month's title, winning a B1,000 tab at the venue, while other teams had the opportunity to win raffle prizes from Phuket Adventure Mini golf, Skyla Surf & SUP Club, Merlin Divers, Lost Legends, and My Gate 2 Success. The B8,000 raised from the event will go toward helping disadvantaged children in Phuket learn English. 


June, 2013: Phuket News - Opening of Anantara Vacation Club

It was a great night out at the grand opening of the Ananatara Vacation Club in Mai Khao on June 13. The party included a cocktail reception, live cooking stations, Thai dance, jazz band and a fireworks display.

Artist Romadon donated his painting for auction. Kathy Heinecke won the bidding at 125,000 baht and all proceeds were generously donated to the Foundation. On top of that, Anantara Vacation Club made a donation of US$5,000 to sponsor a class at Kamala School. 


May, 2013: Phuket News - Volunteer Thank You Party

At the start of the new school year, on 26 May we held our yearly "Volunteer Thank You Party" again. This year the Hilton Arcadia Hotel & Resort in Karon beach was so kind to sponsor the venue. At the hotel's Ocean Beach Club our volunteers enjoyed some delicious cocktails, yummy food and great company. 

A great way to introduce some of our new staff and to say THANK YOU to all our volunteers and one in particular, Hayley, who is leaving us to see some more of the world.


May, 2013: Phuket News - Mystic Mirage

March, 2013: Phuket News - Laption Donation by Island Technology

"Computer Loving: Autcharawan Pratumwan (Managing Director, Island Technology) donates a laptop to Tina Hall (Director of Operations, Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation) on February 22."

February, 2013: Phuket News - Burns Supper

"To celebrate the life of Scottish poet Robert Burns, a Burns Supper was held on January 25, his birthday, at the Pullman Phuket Arcadia, Naithon Beach. Proceeds from the evening went to the Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation. The Phuket News and Live 89.5 were media sponsors."

February, 2013: Global Living Magazine - Expats Giving Back
